Using OBS Plugins

Windows

PRISM Live Studio supports the use of plugins provided by the OBS community.

The installation method varies depending on the plugin's distribution format, so check the downloaded file type and follow the corresponding steps below.

Case 1. Installing from a ZIP File

Most OBS plugins are distributed in this format. The ZIP file contains obs-plugins and data folders inside.

Example plugin: Advanced Scene Switcher

1

Download the Plugin

  1. Go to the plugin's GitHub Releases page.

  2. Check the release notes to confirm the Required/Minimum OBS Version is 31.0 or lower.

  3. Download the Windows x64 ZIP file from the Assets section.

2

Extract and Verify Folder Structure

  1. Right-click the downloaded ZIP file and extract it.

  2. Verify that the extracted folder contains the following two folders:

    • obs-plugins folder (contains a 64bit subfolder with DLL files)

    • data folder (contains an obs-plugins/[plugin-name]/ subfolder)

3

Copy to the PRISM Installation Folder

  1. Close PRISM Live Studio completely (confirm it is closed in the system tray as well).

  2. Copy the obs-plugins folder from the extracted folder into the obs-plugins folder in the PRISM installation path.

  3. Copy the data folder from the extracted folder into the data folder in the PRISM installation path.

  4. When a folder conflict dialog appears, select Merge folders. Do not select Replace, as this may delete existing files.

4

Verify Installation

  1. Launch PRISM Live Studio.

  2. Click the top-left menu icon.

  3. If Advanced Scene Switcher appears in the Tools list, the installation is successful.

Case 2. Installing with an Installer

Some OBS plugins are distributed as installer programs (.exe or .msi) instead of ZIP files.

Example plugin: LocalVocal

1

Download the Plugin

  1. Go to the plugin's GitHub Releases page.

  2. Check the release notes to confirm the Required/Minimum OBS Version is 31.0 or lower.

  3. Download the Windows Installer file (.exe) that matches your PC's graphics card from the Assets section.

AMD

obs-localvocal-x.x.x-windows-x64-amd-Installer.exe

Integrated / Other

obs-localvocal-x.x.x-windows-x64-generic-Installer.exe

2

Run the Installer

  1. Close PRISM Live Studio completely (confirm it is closed in the system tray as well).

  2. Run the downloaded Installer (.exe) file.

  3. Click Next on the License Information screen.

3

Change Installation Path to PRISM Folder and Move Folders

  1. On the Select Destination Location screen, click Browse.

  2. Change the default path (C:\Program Files\obs-studio) to the PRISM installation path.

    • New path: C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\PRISMLiveStudio

  3. Click Next to complete the installation.

In this case, you need to move the folders so that PRISM can recognize the plugin.

  • Open the PRISM installation path C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\PRISMLiveStudio and locate the generated obs-studio folder.

  • Open the obs-studio folder to find the data and obs-plugins folders inside.

  • Move both folders one level up to PRISMLiveStudio\.

  • When a folder conflict dialog appears, select Merge folders.

4

Verify Installation

  1. Launch PRISM Live Studio.

  2. Add an Audio Input Capture source in the Sources area, or select an existing audio source.

  3. Right-click the source > select Filters.

  4. Click the + button in the Filters window.

  5. If LocalVocal Transcription appears in the Audio Filters list, the installation is successful.

Case 3. Plugins Requiring Additional Runtime

Some plugins require separate runtime or dependency software to be installed in addition to the plugin files. A typical example is NDI Source.

NDI Source requires NDI Runtime v6 to be installed separately in addition to the plugin. For detailed installation and usage instructions, refer to the guides below.
