How to Fix Game Capture Failure

Follow these instructions when Game Capture fails on the PRISM PC App.
Common reasons and how to solve them
1. When the game is run as a non-administrator
The Game Capture source requires an administrator’s authorization to be able to run Game Capture for certain games, especially those that require a higher-level authorization.
Solution:
Close PRISM.
Right-click on the PRISM shortcut.
Select “Run as Administrator”.
Re-add the Game Capture source, and try to Game Capture again.
When using this method, you cannot add sources by dragging videos or images to PRISM from outside due to system authorization limits.
2. Failure due to the Anti-cheat (prevention) system on certain games
Some games apply Anti-cheat (security program) to prevent malicious users from cheating, which can limit the screen capture function on a third-party software.
Solution:
Transition to the “window mode” or the “borderless window mode” instead of the “exclusive full-screen mode” in the game settings. : You can change the window mode in the Settings for most games. The capture function may not work in “exclusive fullscreen mode”. Try again after changing it to “window mode”.
3. Graphic card setting error
If a computer uses both internal and external graphic cards, PRISM may fail to capture games if it fails to choose the same graphic card as the game.
Solution:
Open the control panel of the graphic card driver.
Make sure PRISM’s graphic card is the same one as the game (we recommend using external graphic cards).
4. "Exclusive fullscreen mode” error
Game Capture may malfunction when in “Exclusive fullscreen mode”.
Solution:
Select Game Capture source on PRISM.
Go to ‘Properties’ and check the following boxes:
Method: Select “Capture specific window” and choose a game window.
Using the compatibility method due to issues in the Anti-cheat technology: If you still cannot use Game Capture, check the “Use anti-cheat compatibility hook” box.
Third-party overlay capture: If you have to bypass the anti-cheat in the game, click on this box.
Additional solutions
If problem persists despite the guide above, please try the following:
1. Re-add the Game Capture source and restart the game
Delete the “Game Capture” source from PRISM.
Restart the game program.
Re-add the “Game Capture” source.
2. Use other capturing methods
Use “Window Capture”
Add the “Window Capture” source on PRISM.
Click on the game window.
Use “Display Capture”
Add the “Display Capture” source.
Capture the whole screen, and run the game in a fullscreen mode.
